Services
Lucas
County Health Center offers a full range of medical services,
including a 24-hour Emergency Department and paramedic ambulance
service with two intensive care ambulances. The 25-bed acute
care hospital is able to meet the needs of its obstetric,
surgical, and critical care patients. LCHC may also meet the
needs of patients requiring extended post-operative or respite
care. Expectant
Parents await the arrival of their child in the comfort of
beautifully appointed delivery rooms. With wood floors, oak
cabinetry and the comforts of home, each birth occurs under the
skillful watch of highly trained medical professionals who
specialize in obstetrics. LCHC
Surgical Services sees thousands of patients each year, performing
procedures for cancer, cataracts, and general surgery.
Visiting surgeons treat patients surgically for problems related to orthopedics; urology; ear, nose and throat; and podiatry, among
others. Other visiting physicians from many specialties see
patients in the LCHC Specialty Clinics. The
radiology department has state-of-the-art imaging equipment,
including machines for mammography, CT scan and nuclear
medicine. MRI services are also available. Other
departments included at LCHC include physical therapy, counseling
services, adult daycare, childcare, diabetes self-management education, registered dietician services, and obstetrics.
LCHC also has a comprehensive laboratory with the latest
technology. LCHC
is looking toward the future. Eight additional rooms came
under Northridge Living Center in the spring of 2000. The
Iowa Room, a common room for the Northridge Living Center use,
received a major facelift. Patient room renovations also
planned for the acute care wing of the Health Center. The
tradition of providing quality healthcare continues in Lucas
County. Under the guiding hand of its Trustees and administration, Lucas County Health Center keeps its ear tuned
to the constantly changing needs of rural healthcare, and keeps its
eye on the future. For
