	Membership Information
				The Chamber of Commerce is... The Chariton Chamber and Development Corp. is a voluntary organization of individuals and businesses who have banded together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interests of Chariton and Lucas County. These members believe that, through united action, the progress of Chariton can be materially enhanced and that living conditions can be continuously improved.
	It is Run by... The Chamber of Commerce operates as an independent non-profit organization for the overall benefit of Chariton and Lucas County and is run by the membership through an elected Board of Directors. Elections are held once a year at which time the retiring Board members are replaced by newly elected Directors. Four Directors are replaced each year in order to provide continuity of action.

Your Benefits from the Chamber are...
If you are doing business in Chariton and it's area, you are participating in the economy of it. The one organization that has devoted all its time to developing, protecting and expanding the economy is the Chamber of Commerce. Indirect benefits are really direct benefits to you if they maintain a community in which you don't have to worry about vanishing payrolls, dwindling populations, shrinking values, inadequate services, etc. There are town like tat and they don't have a strong Chamber of Commerce.

The Chariton Chamber is the only city-wide organization engaged full time in business promotion, publicizing the area and bringing in more business and industry.

The Board of Directors of the Chariton Chamber and Development Corporation recently voted to offer the following graduated dues to new business members: 25 percent the first year; 50 percent the second year; 75 percent the third year; and full rate the fourth year and thereafter. This discounted membership offering will be in effect until further notice.
