Ukrainian Festival

The second Chariton Ukrainian Cultural Festival was on Saturday, September 17, 2011, featuring Ukrainian food and culture. The festival was from 1-5 p.m.  on the Courthouse lawn.  There was live music featuring button accordions, violins, and other instruments unique to the Ukraine, and individuals and the choir provided plenty of songs for everyone to enjoy.   Several  of the children and some adults were dressed in custom attire.  A speaker spoke in both Ukrainian language and English. The lunch and desserts  served were delicious.  Everyone was encouraged to taste the Ukrainian specialties.
