2011 ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP-25th Anniversary

 

The Chariton Chamber and Development Corporation held their 25th annual meeting at Carpenter's Hall on March 19, 2011.   The 2010-2012 Citizen of the Year award is  Byron Welch.  With changing the date of the Annual meeting, from July to March, we asked Bryon to stay on another year.

 

With this being the 25th Anniversary we asked the past Chamber Directors to comment on their years of service and we are very fortunate to have had only four directors: Sharon Kline 19+years, Ruth Comer 3 1/2 years, Debra Storm 14 months  and present director, Shantel Dow.   

 

Two special  awards were given out this year; the first award was the Community Service Award  to Sandra Knebel for her outstanding contribution to Tourism, Chariton Chamber and Chariton Community.  The Pillar of the Community Award went to Thelma Saxton of Carpenter' Hall  who is  outstanding and assists the Chariton Community  with their fundraisers and events.  

 

We gave several Community Commitment awards to very deserving businesses and individuals:  All Things Princess, Casey's on 7th, Casey's on Court, Chariton True Value/Just Ask Rental, Chariton Valley Planning and Development, Community 1st Credit Union, Copy Plus/Radio Shack, Gene Egeland, H & R Block, Healthy connections, Honey Creek Resort, Jamison Davis, Kum and Go, L & K Insurance, Last Chance, Mexico Lindo, Mosaic, On the Spot Floor Care, Professional Designs, R  & R Repair, Red Haw Family medical Center P.C., 2nd Amendment store.

 

Community Service Awards were awarded to Hy-Vee Distribution Center, Hy-Vee Food Store, Johnson Machine Works, Connecticut Yankee Pedaller, Gary and Betty Pepping and Irene Strait.

 

Chariton Chamber and Development Corporation President for the 2010-2011 year is Amanda Demichelis and Dave Fletcher will become President in August 2011.
