Purpose: The purpose of the Teacher of the Year program is to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of exceptional teachers in the Chariton Community School District as well as to uplift the teaching profession in the eyes of the community.
Teacher Qualifications: A candidate should be an exceptionally skilled and dedicated teacher who has at least 2 years of teaching experience within the Chariton Community School District. The candidate should have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues. The candidate should have an active role in his/her community; and extracurricular activities and groups in the Chariton Community School District, often distinguishing himself/herself as a leader.

3) Write a letter of recommendation describing the reasons why the nominated teacher should be Teacher of the Year. (maximum 2 pages). The letter of recommendation should include information regarding the following criteria: · Specific examples of classroom excellence during the present and prior school year. · Specific examples of contributions outside of classroom hours. · Concern for individual students and the ability to inspire the student to learn and achieve personal goals. · Willingness to devote time and energy to activities. · Ability to work effectively with a variety of community groups. · Ability and willingness to contribute to the field of education.

4) Letter of recommendation must be accompanied by at least one other letter of recommendation from an administrator, a parent, or another teacher. This letter should describe why the candidate should be Teacher of the Year. |

Applications will be reviewed in accordance with guidelines established by the Board of Directors of the Chariton Chamber and Development Corp. The individual selected will be honored at the Annual Meeting of the Chariton Chamber and Development Corp. All applications must be received in the Chariton Chamber and Development Corp. office on or before the due date stated above. Applications received after that date will not be considered. |
