Chariton's 4th of July Parade

The weather cooperated this year for a fantastic 4th of July.  The Parade Marshall was Dick Threlkeld, former and longtime resident of Chariton in the yellow convertible. In the silver convertible is Chariton's Miss Merry Christmas, Vada Abrahamson, and Little St. Nick, Zeb DeZwarte.  Former resident Rev. Bill Nielsen in  the red convertible is Citizen of the Year.  Also, we could not have a parade without Chariton's  beloved "Old Betsy"---a Silsby Steam Engine.  Old Betsy has been   with the Chariton Fire Department since 1883.
